Janice Scarlett - Priest began her singing career at age six.  She sang about being a teacher, but knew she really wanted to perform. 

With the advice of her high school music teacher, Robert Ballard from Franklin High School in Livonia, Michigan, she took a chance and auditioned for the School of Music at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor without any prior formal training.  Janice earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance in 1990.  She has studied opera in New York City.  Janice has performed in many choruses, operas, musicals, and concerts.  She also placed 3rd with the Detroit Concert Choir in the 1993 World Competition in Llangollen, Wales.

Since then, Janice has felt a call to Christian music and kids.  She was a backup singer in the 1996 Detroit production of the Emmanuel tour.  She finds inspirational music a way to express her love of life.  Performing as a solo artist for various Christian denominations, Janice loves exalting God's name in song.  Janice cantors for weddings, funerals, special services and performs throughout Michigan.  Her husband, Dan, introduced her to the wonderful world of clowning when they were dating and was hooked ever since.

Occasionally, when not performing as her main character, Lovely the Clown, she still enjoys the spotlight, performing the National Anthem for the Detroit Rockers and Plymouth Whalers and singing mezzo soprano with Opera Lite during the holidays.  Most of her time is happily spent with her husband, Dan, and their four children, Sarah, Sam, Steve and Shane.
